Matthieu Barret Cotes du Rhone Petit Ours 2023 070226CRISP and almond treesLuscious, unfettered Syrah. Matthieu Barret is a pioneer of organic and biodynamic farming in Cornas, where his Domaine du Coulet works granite terroir, but Petit Ours comes from his Ctes du Rhne fruit further south, off clay soils in the Visan area. It's 100% Syrah, fermented with native yeasts in concrete and raised about nine months with little to no sulfur, the kind of low intervention approach that lets the grape's juicy, mineral side shine.
