This is an extremely rare colonial issue "Truppi Speciali" crucifom blade bayonet for use with the 10. 4 mm. M1871 Vetterli and M1871 87 Vetterli Vitali rifles. These are extremely rare, with few known examples. It features the same "long spring" and composition grip scales seen on the standard M1871 Sword bayonets for the Vetterli.
