which I believe likely dates to the 1830s or so

I would indeed guess mid 19th c

with lead weight still attached bottom

Usually, one finds them sewn together of pieces of oil cloth, most often in two alternating colors. But here, the cloth is more like linen, and the color more as if hand dyed, soft and radiant. And a most as beautiful a combination of three shades as could be. Perhaps the yellow, with shows a bit of a different texture, once had an oil cloth sort of surface that long ago wore away;
