The wood stock has one small crack above the side plate next to the barrel and appears to have been painted at some time

it is still very presentable and a very good example of this type of rifle (most are in deplorable condition) and the back strap is nicely marked with the Remington name and patent dates

however unfortunately this blade was sharpened at some point

This example appears to have been dug up pr recovered sometime after WWII like a time capsule that was waiting to be discovered
