I believe this sweet little wooden box was a Florentine souvenir

but it seems stable and sound

but feels all of a piece with the frame and I personally would leave it just as found

I'll never say no to an old folk art seascape, especially where there are boats sailing and seagulls flying and extra good if painted on a wood panel. An interesting configuration to the rocks, too. Photos really do no real justice; the color has a greater depth and richness to it, with an especially lovely sky, and it is very much about
