Curious Foot Shaped Old Metal Pin Cushion salesman sample I would guess this piece

I would guess this piece dates to the mid 20th century

I have seen images of orange vessels just like these topped with highly stylized pointy lids ending in exaggerated bulbous tips

"Tales from the Igloo" in 1972 and "More Tales from the Igloo" (1986)

with a bit of spotting/very light pitting on the ruled side

Curious Foot Shaped Old Metal Pin Cushion salesman sample I would guess this pieceI've seen a lot of shoe and boot shaped old pin cushions, but I've never seen, and cannot find, another shaped like a bare foot! The bottom is stamped "Patent Approved," but perhaps the maker never followed through on producing more than a few! It's definitely a curious one, and I think a pretty fantastic object, though I'm honestly not sure what the metal is.
