Press puzzle blocks but the sides are stillI don't know the story behind this guy and can't find his likeness out there; he looks to me like the one off creation of a skilled metalsmith, quite nicely done. He punches down when pressed, with enough force to cut through something of substance (and the edges of his raised features are sharp), so I am more inclined to think made for cutting leather or perhaps some type of clay or composition material than pressing into soft dough. Whatever the
