nailed on to the body

these are shards of ancient glass

The platter measures 15" in diameter and 1 1/4" tall

looking rather as if up to something illicit--and more generally clearly tormented

Handsome Man with Mustache, Bowler, and Unbuttoned Buttons, Antique Tintype gift for art student nailed on to the bodyJust a terrific portrait I think. Very handsome and appearing very at ease, including for the gape between the unbuttoned buttons on his vest. (Looks as if he might reach inside and pull out four Aces! ) I also really like the effect of the slightly wavering arches above and below framing him, as if he were being viewed through a makeshift scope. The fabric draped over the arm of the chair lends a sort of grandmotherly sweetness, too. 3 1 2" x 2 1 2".
