The back fo the canteen is engraved with a clock and the hands at 3 and 6 beneath the clock is 3/6 which represents 3rd Battalion 6th Marines

The rear also shows some past removed oxidation and water stains

It is fitted with a rare 4 1/2" barrel (most were 5")

with a nice 1939 date
