This was removed during the war from a Sturzhelm nach Vorschrift des NSKK (Crash Helmet according to NSKK regulations). The eagle was mounted to the front center of one of these helmets, and unlike almost all that we see, it is not made from aluminum, but instead zinc, indicating that it is very early issue.
