Presented is a nice original example of that engineering design called the “Navy” type carbine which had its barrel covered in a black leather covering as rust protection against the sea elements (leather covering is now absent)

The metal ring and cloth wrist strap are still present (so often missing)

There is also a stain near the top on both sides from where it looks like some tape used to be

This early example has more original components than most, and looks to have an original metal barrel, muzzle brake, front sight, front sling swivel, and even an aluminum upper receiver with rear sight. The fore grip heat shield also looks to be an original component.
