It is in the standard 1944 pattern Shin Gunto setting, and is dated December 1944 on the blade tang. It also is signed by the smith who made it, FUJIKATSU. A Shin Gunt (, new military sword) is a weapon and symbol of rank used by the Imperial Japanese Army between the years of 1935
