19th c. Bock-Steger Anatomical Brain Model, Germany Dressers MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES BoneABOUT A hand crafted and painted plaster anatomical model of the human brain. Franz Josef Steger and pathological anatomist Carl Ernst Bock collaborated at the University of Leipzig to produce anatomical models for the instruction of students in the 19th century. Such models were either direct casts or sculpted in plaster, porcelain or wax. Steger also explored the early use of plastics. However, it is the plaster models for which he is famous. Shown
